Medical Face Mask Differential Pressure Tester

The Medical Face Mask Differential Pressure Tester, also known as the Mask Breathability Tester, is designed to evaluate the breathability of medical face mask materials. The instrument measures the differential pressure (ΔP) required to draw air through a defined surface area at a constant airflow rate. By providing controlled suction through the sample, the tester accurately determines the air exchange pressure and comfort performance of mask materials, which is essential for medical mask quality assessment.

Application

The Medical Face Mask Differential Pressure Tester is applicable to breathability evaluation across the following industries and products:

(1) Medical and Healthcare Industry: surgical masks, medical face masks, N95/FFP masks, disposable masks — evaluation of breathability and air exchange resistance

(2) Protective Clothing Industry: mask-integrated protective garments, isolation gowns with mask functionality — assessment of airflow and wearer comfort

(3) Textile Industry: nonwoven fabrics, filter fabrics, coated fabrics — air permeability and differential pressure testing

(4) Research and Development: development of new mask materials, optimization of air permeability and comfort, comparative studies

(5) Quality Control: production batch verification, mask material compliance testing for breathability standards

(6) Third-Party Testing Laboratories: certification testing, laboratory evaluation of mask differential pressure and comfort properties

The instrument is widely used for product development, quality control, R&D, and laboratory testing.

Standards

The instrument complies with and can be applied to the following standards (including but not limited to):

(1) YY 0469-2011 – Technical Requirements for Medical Surgical Masks

(2) YY/T 0969-2013 – Medical Face Masks — Air Permeability and Breathability Testing

(3) EN 14683:2014. Annex C – Medical Face Masks — Requirements and Test Methods (Differential Pressure)
